The Foundation believes that not all young people get the opportunities in life that they deserve. Our goal is to allow these young people to learn new life skills and to achieve their dreams and goals. We want to raise the aspirations of these young people who lack self esteem and confidence and make them feel positive about themselves.
Goals and a Positive mindset
Through the Foundations sporting projects, young people improve their academic and social skills from as early as 7 years of age. We feel that by engaging the children at a younger age in the community the quicker they will progress on the right path.
Crime Diversion
Anti Social behaviour is a constant problem in society. Providing coaching, training and mentoring programmes will divert and focus the young people’s mindset on constructive and positive attitudes.
Truancy/Persistent Absenteeism
Positive sporting programmes engage young people with a history of persistent absenteeism. Data collected from previous CSCF projects show a 35% decrease in persistent absenteeism attendances due to the positive impact out projects have had on our young people.
Engaging girls and young women in sport
There are increasing concerns about girls’ participation in sport and physical activity. The gap between the boys and girls becomes wider as girls get older when, by the age of 14, four in ten girls drop out of sport. High school girls who play sports are:
- More confident and have lower levels of depression
- Less likely to be involved in an unintended pregnancy
- More likely to get better grades in school
- More likely to finish school
Teenage girls want activities that are social, have positive role models, are free and easy to access. We open the door to sport and physical activity with our all-girls club, as well as employing many female coaches across our programmes to inspire girls to keep active.
