Steve Bucknall
Steven Bucknall is currently the England U18 Men Head Coach and former England School Boys Basketball Captain, GB Men’s Basketball Captain, England Captain, and 2006 Commonwealth Bronze medalist. He progressed through the Crystal Palace Basketball youth system and left England as a teenager for high school in Boston. In 1985 he achieved recognition as a McDonalds All-American (rated as one of the top 20 high school players in the US) and went on to play at the University of North Carolina under the legendary Dean E Smith where he was MVP in 1989. He held the honor of being the first Englishman to play in the NBA with the Los Angeles Lakers. Over his 17-year professional basketball career he has represented teams in the USA, England, France, Germany, Greece and Italy. Steve is a qualified UKCC Tutor and has a Level III coaching award in Basketball. He believes that he has the experience and drive to be an asset to his community.
