Vision: Our VISION is to develop a stronger and healthier community within the 3 Borough’s. By dealing with issues that include:
- Young people from socio-economically disadvantaged backgrounds
- Young people with persistent absenteeism and those who have behavioural and attitudinal problems
- Young people who are marginalised
- Young people that live in areas of deprivation
- Young people from different cultural backgrounds
After this has been achieved within the 5 years we would like to develop our template into each and every Borough in London.
Mission: Our MISSION is to implement our ‘Leap and Learn’ Programme in 3 Borough’s within Greater London in the next 3 years with a view to take this successful template throughout the London Borough’s. The vision has 4 components and these are as follows:
- A sustainable Primary School weekly programme for multi-sports. This will be specifically targeted at the disadvantaged children in the Primary School.
- To develop a sustainable Community Basketball Club in each of the 3 Borough’s. For both boys and girls, consisting of weekly coaching sessions, mid-week games and national competitions.
- A Coaching, Mentoring and Training Programme, which consists of three levels of qualification. These are Foundation, Level 1 Coaching Award and Level 2 Coaching Award.
- A programme for 11-19 year olds for both boys and girls, which will have weekly sports coaching sessions
Management Structure: To develop a core Management Structure of 5 permanent salaried posts.
- Executive Operations Manager
- Operations Manager
- Project Manager in Bromley
- Project Manager in Lewisham
- Project Manager in Croydon
Disadvantaged Children in Primary Schools: Our main outcome is to decrease vulnerability and increase self esteem and confidence of the disadvantaged children. These children may be on the Special Educational Needs (SEN) register, part of ARM’S (Additionally Resourced Mainstream Setting) or have some kind of disability. These children may have also come from socio-economically disadvantaged backgrounds and not have the finances to attend sporting clubs.
Community Club: A new Basketball Community Club will be set up within each of the 3 Borough’s that we have chosen. The aim of the club is to integrate the Community and to create an environment of togetherness, team work and a healthy and fun environment. The clubs will play in Local, Regional and National competitions. Our aim is to develop a 100 strong club with a 10 team strong volunteer group to help make them club sustainable and prosperous.
Coaching, Mentoring and Training Programme: The aim is to develop young leaders as people and qualify and mentor the leaders with 3 levels of certification. Foundation Award, Coach Level 1 Award and Coach Level 2 Award. Level 2 enables the Coach to take a group session on their own in a paid capacity.
11-19 Year Olds Programme for Marginalised and Disadvantaged: We will work with marginalised pupils and young adults within high schools, sports colleges, Youth Offenders Service and Connexions. This group will be steered towards the Community Club and the Coaching, Training and Mentoring Programme, along with weekly coaching sessions at the various venues.
